The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Ultra Precision organised and hosted this one day conference and exhibition at the Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge, to showcase advances in ultra precision engineering in fields such as additive manufacturing, nano and micro manufacturing, metrology, mechatronic systems and control, and ultra precision machines. The event was designed to provide an opportunity for industrialists and academic researchers to share their latest ideas and to explore future collaborative opportunities in the field of ultra precision engineering.
- Precision Mechatronic Systems and Control
- Precision Machining Processes
- Additive Manufacturing for Precision Engineering
- Novel Advances in Precision Engineering & Nanotechnologies
- Ultra Precision Devices
Speakers at the conference were: Martin O’Hara, EPSRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Ultra Precision, Cranfield University, Prof Richard Leach, University of Nottingham, Alan Ferguson, Oxford Lasers, Dr Sun Jining, Heriot-Watt University, Dr Matthew Hiscock, Oxford Instruments, Andrew Yacoot, National Physical Laboratory, Dr Emmanuel Brousseau, Cardiff University, Prof Xiangqian (Jane) Jiang, University of Huddersfield, Dr Magdalena Ulmeanu, University of Bristol, Dr Lewis G Carpenter, University of Southampton, Dr Thomas Haas, PI UK Ltd and Dr Matthew Bibby, Zeeko Ltd.
The PhD research students of the Centre for Doctoral Training in Ultra Precision also presented their research to the audience. These students are the Centre’s current researchers based at the University of Cambridge and at Cranfield University.
The conference also provided the delegates the opportunity to network with some exhibitors present which included Lambda, PI GmbH, Orlin Technologies and Aerotech.
