Watch it Made® Experience with St James Primary School, November 2015

The Watch it Made team welcomed a very enthusiastic group of year 6 pupils from St James Church of England Primary School, Northampton this week.

The pupils had a great time looking at watch designs, learning about the different pieces that form the inside of the watch, how UV printers work and gaining hands on experience in using a lathe to diamond turn their watch case.

Pupils enjoyed inputting their personalised message or name into the engraver software computer programme and then watching the engraving of the back of their watch case.

With steady hands the pupils assembled their manufactured parts to form the watch dial before adding the front glass and the strap to finish their own personalised watch.

“The children (and staff!) absolutely loved it, a fantastic opportunity that I am sure they will remember for a long time.  They have come in today proudly wearing their watches.

The team engaged the children so well and were so encouraging towards them as well as enthusiastic about their specialism that it rubbed off on the children and our constant quest to raise the aspiration of our children was well backed up.

A thoroughly enjoyable session and I will be spreading the word with other schools.” Mrs Busari, Deputy Head, St James Church of England Primary School.
