National Manufacturing Debate, May 2015

During the sixth successful year, this annual event hosted by Cranfield University brought together manufacturing professionals from a range of sectors to discuss and debate current challenges in the industry.

The event on 20 May 2015 encouraged networking and collaboration across the sector to enable continued and long-term growth. The 2015 topic was “How do we develop the capability for effective reshoring to the UK?”.

Lord Alec Broers, Kt, FRS, FREng presented the keynote speakers who included John Cridland, Director-General, CBI; Tomas Jaskelevicius, Business Development Director, Arginta Group; David Kyanston, OBE FInstP, Chairman, AMSCI Investment Board; Ian Pearce, MD, Brinsea Products Ltd; Paul Sloman, Partner, PWC; Dick Elsy, CEO, HVM Catapult; Dr Felipe Rubio Castillo, Deputy Director of CIDESI CONAYCT R&D, Mexico and Harry Moser, Founder and President, Reshoring Initiative, USA.

Prior to the debate day, delegates were able to take part in tours and demonstrations of Cranfield’s impressive facilities and current research. On the day, following a range of presentations from keynote speakers, the National Manufacturing Debate took place Chaired by Nicky Hussey, MD of The Manufacturer.
