Metrology Technologies to Enable Reel to Reel Processing of Emerging Products, Nov 2013

A successful metrology themed meeting was held at the National Physical Laboratory  on Wednesday 20 November 2013.  The one day event brought together members from academia and industry with research interests in metrology needs supporting future reel to reel processing technologies.

Presentations included:

  • Metrology challenges for highly parallel micro-manufacture

Professor Richard Leach, National Physical Laboratory

  • Metrology for in process roll to roll production of flexible photo voltaics

Professor Liam Blunt, EPSRC Centre in Advanced Metrology, University of Huddersfield

  • Reel to reel production tools for touch sensor manufacture on thin flex glass (TFG)

    Dr Phil Rumsby, M-Solv Limited

  • Structured surfaces for active daylighting

    Dr Nick Walker, iXscient Ltd

  • Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Ultra Precision/Dynamically controlling the position and distortion of transparent flexible film (to microns)

Paul Morantz, EPSRC Centre in Ultra Precision, Cranfield University

  • Fabrication processes for flexible display backplanes, current requirements for metrology and challenges for future R2R processes

Dr Simon Ogier,  Centre for Process Innovation Limited

Thank you to all of the speakers for joining us and for the National Physical Laboratory for hosting the Centre’s event.
